It was obvious that you planned extensively to make the inerary as close to perfect as humanly possible. The schedule was paced to allow time to enjoy the sights without becoming overtired and yet the days were filled with exciting and new opportunities to see the countryside and enjoy our scrumptious meals and wine tasting at our leisure.
In addition to the well planned itinerary, we were blessed with a wonderful group of travelers. Even the bus rides were fun with the Italian speaking participants leading the singing and interpreting for us. Our driver, Daniele, was also a professional. His driving skills were impecable. We were impressed at how well he could navigate the narrow streets and get us to our destinations on time.
The highlight of the trip to Abruzzo for us was our day in Calascio. With the help of our guide, Chiara, we were able to track down some of our distant cousins and locate our family home. Without her help, this would not have been possible. We are still reviewing the family information we received from the staff at the Calascio Muniicipal Buildingl. It is fascinating to discover how our ancestors made their living and to reflect on their courage to leave their home country and make a new life in the United States.
In summary we are most appreciative of the wonderful time we had in our grandparents' homeland and we will definitely return in the near future. I will recommend Abruzzo Tours to anyone interested in seeing the real Italy.
