Our September tour of Abruzzo was the trip of a lifetime for us.
The hotels and sights we saw were outstanding, and the meals were divine. We particularly enjoyed the trips to the mountains and the medieval villages with their ancient churches and artwork. The group at the winery in VittoritoThe small size of our group made it possible to be somewhat flexible with our schedule, and we truly appreciated your guides' willingness to make adjustments. For example, the Stiffe Grotto was an option that we found fascinating. Stopping for a cappuccino in some of the small towns also gave us a taste of the culture there. Pescocostanzo was my very favorite village. Every street was like a work of art, providing me with photographs filled with flowers, old stonework, and mountain views. The artisans' shops were unique. L'Aquila itself is a wonderful home base for the tour. We had fun exploring the sidestreets and shops, as well as the museum inside the castle. The marketplace and passeggiata in the evening were also fun. And all around, including from the balcony of our room, the most beautiful mountains.
The pasta chitarra lesson was also unique, as was the Dolce Aveia factory tour, and the wonderful winery in Vittorito. The food and wine were wonderful, and the restaurants were charming. I particularly enjoyed the mountain food in Pescocostanzo, and, although I am not fond of unusual seafood, I still am happy to have had the opportunity to see what an authentic Abruzzese seafood dinner looks like. Our tour guide Chiara was the star of the tour! She is so warm, so thoughtful, and full of information. She became a friend, but she was always firm in keeping us on task when she had to be. John truly appreciated her stopping in Caporciano where his father was born. Daniele was an outstanding driver, and his van was always clean. Prompt, polite, and good-natured, he handled the traffic jam at the Rome toll booth impressively. We thank you and him for getting us to the airport the night before our flight. That is an outstanding plan.
Thank you!
